Day 14: Rotorua

Quick update. We're still alive. We spent a minimal amount of time in Wellington, and all of it was spent at Te Papa, the national museum. Soon as we were done there, we hit the road around 5:45 and stayed overnight in a holiday park. The next couple days were spent in Tongariro National Park where we had no cell phone or wifi connectivity whatsoever. Well worth it though, as we had a gorgeous sunny day to do the Tongariro Crossing. We were even able to side track and summit Mt. Tongariro itself. Amazing how over just 19 km, you can experience desert, snow, ice, sulphurous volcaoes and lish boreal forest. Today was spent in Rotorua where we took in the hot pools at the Polynesian Spa to loosen up tired muscles, followed up with a Maori cultural show and traditional dinner. We're free camping overnight just outside Waihi and spending the day checking out the Coromandel Peninsula. Monday, we return the campervan, check into a hotel for our final night, and back to Canada on Tuesday. It's coming to an end way too quickly.
