Day 3/4: In Te Anau

We're without WiFi for the next couple days so I'm posting a quick update from my phone. We'll give more details later but this should tie you over. Yesterday was spent in Dunedin, where we had sushi for lunch. Not the biggest selection, but incredibly fresh! The squid tempura was a bit reminder of the Philippines, very fresh and very tasty. I think we could get used to being this close to the coast. After touring the Otago Museum (free admission), we went to The Craic, a nice Irish pub (in the downtown of New Zealand's Edinbrough...figure that one out). Had a great pint of Guiness and a tasty burger. Jenny had a seafood platter with an assortment of cod, shrimp and calamari. We rounded out the night by doing a tour of the Speight's Brewery. Great tour, awesome beer. I'm hoping I can buy Speight's Gold Medal Ale somewhere in Edmonton. We called it an early night at 10 so we could make the four hour drive out to Te Anau this morning. We got here about an hour and a half before our tour of the Te Anau Glowworm Caves. Well worth the experience, and I must admit "On A Boat" was going through my mind while sailing out to the caves. I just finished making a lamb dinner, and we'll be calling it an early night again tonight. We have a 2.5 hr drive to Milford Sound in the morning in order for us to make our Nature Cruise around the sound at 10:30. We've been told snow chains are required. I say the Kiwi's don't know anything about driving in winter like we do. Will post more details later. We're out. Cheers!

  • I am guessing the snow there is probably lots wetter than what we are used to here.  Sure hope the drive went well without the chains.  Love you both! Mom
